Grip Strip FAQs:

1) How close to edge of the ruler or template should I attach Grip Strips?

Answer: Put them right up to the edges of your ruler or template.

Another advantage of using Grip Strips is that you'll be able to cut more layers of fabric accurately because they grip the fabric solidly right where you are cutting. So you want the outside edges of the Grip Strips parallel to the edges of your ruler or template.

2) Should I put them on all the edges?

Answer: You definitely want them on any edge you are cutting on. For example, if you only cut on the long edges of your rulers, you can put them on just the two long edges. That way, one Grip Strip will grip your fabric, and the other will grip your cutting mat as you cut.

If you sometimes cut along the short edges of your ruler, you should put them on all four edges.

3) What about my square rulers?

Answer: You usually cut along all the edges of a square ruler, so you should put Grip Strips along all four edges.

4) What about templates?

Answer: You usually cut around all the edges of a template, so you would want Grip Strips on every edge.

5) Are there any special cases where I would also need to use Grip Strips other than on my rulers or templates?

Answer: Yes, there is one case. If you have Grip Strips on your ruler and then attach our Seam Allowance Additions to the edge of your ruler to automatically add the seam allowance, you'll also need to put Grip Strips on the outside edges of the Additions, so that the Grip Strip on the edge of the Addition will grip the fabric solidly right where you are cutting.
