What is a Scant ¼" Seam?

A scant ¼" is a seam allowance sewn slightly less than a full ¼".

This compensates for the thread and the fold, so the finished seam measures an accurate ¼". Your pieces will match and your points will be sharp.

Without a scant 1/4", your seams will end up wider than a full 1/4". This discrepancy can add up, so that your finished quilts can end up a little smaller than intended.

You may have a 1/4” or even a scant 1/4” presser foot, but many quilters find it much easier to get accurate results if they have a guide in front of the presser foot.

Our Super Easy Seam Guide Setter makes it a breeze to set a Guide at a Scant 1/4" from your needle, so your finished seams end up at a full 1/4".
